What is Event Blogging?
As the name suggests, event blogging is based on various events. The primary motivation is to attract huge traffic to your blog at the time of the event.
On the day of a specific event, the searches related to that event is extremely high on google.
So, if you can rank your blog on Google or any other search engine, then you will get a massive amount of targeted traffic automatically coming to your website.
If you know how to effectively convert the traffic into sales (or any other monetization options that I’ll discuss later). In that case, you can be able to earn an incredible amount of money during events.
Benefits of Event Blogging:
Talking about the benefits of event blogging, there are numerous benefits.
- You will get real targeted visitors coming to your website.
- You can earn a massive amount of money during that event.
- It works as an additional source of income.
- Considerably less effort with less competition if you target the right keywords.
Now the keyword research will play a key role to make a successful event blog.
I can not stress to you how important keyword research is for event blogging.
If you have adequately done your keyword research part only, then you have completed 60% work.
Why is keyword research so important?
You are not the only person who is targeting events. The competition will be there.
I have discussed keyword research below in this article. You will get an in-depth insight into it.
How to make money from Event blogging?
Here are some of the excellent ways of making money from your event blogging sites.
1. Affiliate Marketing:
The best way to make money from event blogging is affiliate marketing. The pay-outs areas compared to display ads.
If you don’t know affiliate marketing, then let me clear it in a straightforward sentence.
Promote other’s products using your affiliate link, and if someone buys through your affiliate link, then you get few percentages as commission.
Buyers don’t have to pay extra money for that, so a win-win situation for the seller, affiliate and buyer.
Now, if you are thinking that in your niche or targeting event, you can’t find any product to promote, then that’s not the truth.
You can, and you will surely find some product related to your niche and event on various affiliate networks.
You just need to find it and target the right keywords to attract the right kind of traffic.
You can find products on various affiliate networks like
- Amazon Associates (Highly recommended for Physical products)
- Click Bank
- Share a Sale
- Commission Junction (CJ network)
And many more. There are lots of affiliate networks available.
Let suppose Christmas event. You can promote Christmas trees, Christmas hats and many more.
You can target Buyers’ keywords such as
- Best Christmas Tree
- Christmas home decoration ideas
2. Display Ads:
If you are targeting Informational keywords such as
- Christmas quotes
- Christmas Wishes for friends
Then you can monetize your blog using display Ads. Create an account on Google AdSense and start displaying the Ads on your website.
If someone clicks on the ad, then you will earn money.
The earning potential is lesser than affiliate marketing though you can earn decent money if you can drive huge traffic.
But if you ask me, then I suggest affiliate marketing.
One thing that you can do is target information as well as buyer keyword and write a different post. After that, interlink the post.
How to create an event blog from scratch?
Creating an event blog is extremely simple and similar to creating any other blog.
First, you have to select the event then pick an attractive domain related to the event. And lastly, choose an excellent hosting provider to host your event blog.
I have discussed how to start it though I strongly recommend you to check my comprehensive article on how to start a blog from scratch. If you read that then you will also know how to start an event blog.
1. Selecting an Event:
You can select any event that you want. This is the kind of niche of your website, you can say.
Here are some ideas of different events that you can select.
- IPL (Indian Premier League)
- FIFA world cup
- Black Friday
- Cyber Monday
- New Year
- Raksha Bandhan
- Big Billion Day
- Software launches on Jvzoo
- Independence Day
- Republic Day
These are just a few examples of various events. You can find lot more events.
One thing that I want to mention must check the search trend of that event on Google trends.
This will give a fair idea about the popularity of that specific event. Compare with other events to check which one is more popular.
Once you select the event, it’s time to choose the domain name. You can use lean domain search to select the domain name and its availability.
BUT DON’T BUY THE DOMAIN. Because on the next step, you are going to reveal how you can get a FREE domain for 1 year.
2. Choose an Excellent Hosting Provider:
Now here is the thing. On the day of the event, the traffic of your site will be extremely high. If you purchase a cheap domain, then your site eventually goes down. Forget about earning. All of the hard work will spoil.
So, I recommend you not to go with any cheap hosting.
Also, if you are a beginner, then I will not recommend buying expensive hosting.
Then what is the solution?
Purchase a reputed company’s shared hosting plan.
Hostinger is one of the best and reputed brands.
This website, Blogging Flow itself hosted on Hostinger shared hosting plan. The service is just outstanding, and the price is also affordable. That is why I strongly recommend you to go for Hostinger only.
Also, you will get 1 free domain for 1 year, along with that 100 free professional email accounts.
You can create 100s of emails other than that lightning speed loading and priority support.
3. Setup WordPress blog in less than an hour:
I will show you the complete step-by-step process, how can you install and set up a WordPress blog in few minutes. You just need to copy-paste the whole process.
After changing the Nameservers, now it’s time to install WordPress to your domain.
Step 1: Log in to your Hostinger account.
Step 2: Click on the “Hosting” and then click on “Add Website.”
Step 3: Enter domain name and password and then click on “Add Website.”
Step 4: Click on hosting again. Your added domain will show here. Now click on “Manage.”
Step 5: Scroll down and click on “Auto Installer.”
Step 6: You will find “WordPress” there. Click on it and fill in essential details.
While logging in to your WordPress dashboard, this username and password you have to use. So, carefully enter all the details.
Enter the domain (Make sure to do https://)
Then click on the “Install” button.
It will take some time.
Step 7: After installation. Go to this URL “YourDomain.com/wp-admin/.”
Log in with the details that you have filled in step 6. And you are good to go.
That’s it, and you have just finished the whole setup process. Your website is 50% ready now.
Performa In-depth Keyword Research
As I have mentioned earlier, keyword research plays a vital role in Event blogging.
So, you can use free methods or paid methods to find keywords.
1. ABC..XYZ Method:
This is the simple method to find keywords for free of cost. You don’t need any tools.
First, open Google.com.
Second, type the even that you have select.
For example, “Christmas.”
Then give a space and type “a”. It will suggest few keywords.
Then remove “a” and type “b” again. It will suggest more keywords.
Like that starting from “a” go-to “z” and note down all the keywords that Google is suggesting.
Now, this method is slow as it is a free method, and also, you just get the keywords but don’t get other metrics like monthly search volume, keyword difficulty.
But remember one thing this method is one of the most powerful methods of finding excellent keywords because Google only suggests that keywords which have good monthly search volume.
2. Paid Method: SEMrush
I use Semrush to find amazing keywords. It’s a paid method though you can use Semrush for 30 days using the Semrush 30 days free trial.
Sign up for the Semrush and come to Keyword Magic Tool. Search that event, and boom, it will suggest different keywords with different metrics such as search volume, keyword difficulty, etc.
Write 5 to 10 Long-form Articles.
After finding some excellent keywords now, you have to write 5 to 10 outstanding long-form article (at least 2000+ words article) and publish on your website.
It is the most critical step to rank on google. Without good content, you can’t rank on google.
Note: repeat your keyword in your content but don’t over do it. Don’t stuff keywords or don’t over-optimize.
Google may penalize your website if you do that.
Then what is the ideal keyword density?
In 2000 words article, you can repeat your keyword 3 to 7 times. That’s it, not more than that.
Similarly, for 4000 words article 6 to 14 times.
No need to put keywords again and again into your article. This will create a bad impact on the reader’s eye also, and your content becomes scrape. No one is going to read the content if you stuff keywords.
Your primary intention should be to engage your audience as much as you can.
Optimize your event blog:
Optimization means do proper on-page SEO and technical SEO of your content and blog.
I am starting with on-page SEO. Here are few checklists of on-page SEO.
- Include Keyword in Title (Heading 1 of the article)
- Include Keyword Meta Title & Meta Description
- Include Keyword in Image Alt Text
- Include Keyword in your content
These are few essential checklists. But not all of them. I strongly recommend you install a WordPress plugin called Rank Math Pro.
This is a free plugin though if you need the pro version, then you will get some extra features. But the free version is more than sufficient to do on-page SEO of your event blog.
Next is technical SEO:
Technical SEO includes site structure, website speed optimization, etc.
The most essential part is website speed optimization. Your website should load within a second, which will have a positive impact on the higher ranking of your site.
Already you are using an excellent hosting platform that is Hostinger. So, your site speed is fast.
Though, if you can afford one extra paid plugin, that is WP-rocket. Then your website become lightning fast.
Site structure is nothing but adding categories of your post and add them to the primary menu. All posts must be accessible from your home page.
These are two crucial aspects of Technical SEO.
Build Backlinks for your Event Blog
Building backlinks to your blog is the next important thing after optimization of on-page & Technical SEO.
If your blog is new, then here are the step-by-step to build backlinks.
Step 1: Build branded URLs links and profile backlinks.
Step 2: Build Web 2.0s pointing to your event blog
Step 3: Send some social signals (mean social sharing on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Linked In, Tumbler, Reddit, StumbleUpon, etc.) to your website.
Step 4: Then go for Guest Posting or broken link building or HARO (Help A Reporter) techniques.
But remember, don’t jump or mismatch any steps. To build a great website, you need a great foundation.
Don’t buy cheap links from Fiverr or Upwork. This may lead to penalize your site from Google permanently.
